Meeting Set on Society Formation

"An informational meeting to determine interest in forming a historical society for East Point will be held Dec. 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the East Point Woman's Club on DeLowe Drive.

Mrs. Olen Gunnin, Woman's Club president, urges anyone who has interest in this to attend and to express their interest so they can be notified of the date of a planning meeting to be held sometime in early January.

Projects which have been mentioned as possible items to be considered would be the preservation of Church Street School; the restoration of an old cemetery on Connally Drive; and site for a museum for old pictures, and relics of early East Point."

In the January EPHS 1998 newsletter, there is this mention of the three people EPHS owes much gratitude for its existence:  "Jake (J.T.Goen), along with Earlene Dowda and I (Ora Jean Gunnin) called the first group together back in 1978."
