We need Volunteers!!!

EPHS belongs to all of us. Every citizen of East Point. We need your help and your support.
Here are several ways you can volunteer:
(We need a volunteer Coordinator!!)

Grants:
We need a volunteer Grants Coordinator.  We need someone who work with EPHS to identify, develop, write and oversee grant opportunities that are right for EPHS.

Archives/Collections Management:
-Work with Curator and Board members on data entry involving scanning, digitizing, This activity would take place while EPHS is open.
-Clip current articles relevant to East Point out of local newspapers
-Clip obituaries of East Point residents out of local newspapers

Hours of Operation or Group Bookings:
EPHS wants to develop a group of volunteers to act as docents when EPHS is open to the public.
-These volunteers will assist researchers/visitors, undertake research projects and collection management tasks.
-They will also assist with visiting groups of school children and high school alumni reunions that book the facility for use in non-operating hours.

Downtown East Point Newsletter
-We provide a Flashback article for this monthly electronic publication produced by the City of East Point. We need researchers/writers, who are self-motivated, to take on a subject of their interest about historical East Point and prepare an article for this newsletter.
-The article will also be published in the next issue of the EPHS newsletter.

EPHS Newsletter:
Help print, fold, and prepare for mailing about 300 newsletters.

Membership Campaign:
Develop an outline for increasing membership to include neighborhood associations, City Officials, local businesses, other nonprofit organizations, current and former residents, school (especially high school) reunion groups

EPHS Annual Holiday Open House:
-Participate in decorating the house for the holidays on a Saturday before our November Open House. Help set up tree, w/lights and decorations and place other decorations around the house and lights (on timers) in the planters outside the house
-Clean the house the week before the November Open House, on a Thursday or Saturday when the house is open and a Board Member is already on site. Involves damp mopping the floor, dusting and eliminating the cobwebs throughout the house, and cleaning the kitchen and disinfecting bathrooms

Membership Meetings:
For our next meeting in late September, we need a videographer & editor to volunteer to shoot our next event.  We need at least one camera, two would be heaven, and a separate audio recording of the event.  We will need some minimal lighting. Great opportunity for the professional who needs a community project on their résumé reel.

Ongoing maintenance of EPHS facility:
-The railings on both porches need to be sanded and painted.
-We want to repair/replace the fallen pieces of concrete at our Norman Berry entrance wall
-The train needs a fresh coat of paint and a clean up day to reorganized the inside. We want to display more photos and artifacts of interest in this underutilized space.
-Eventually we need to run electricity out to the cars and install a small AC/heater and some lights.
